Besides, the admiral thought Pearl was too shallow for torpedoes he never even put up a barrier. His intelligence had lost track of Japan’s biggest aircraft carriers, but assumed they were resting in a port far away. In a small office at Pearl Harbor, overlooking the battleships, the commander of the Pacific Fleet tried to assess whether the threat was real. They thought precautions were being taken, but never checked to be sure. In Washington, DC, in late November 1941, admirals composed the most ominous message in Navy history to warn Hawaii of possible danger-but they wrote it too vaguely. In this “riveting” ( Los Angeles Times) account of the days leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Steve Twomey “infuses a well-known story with suspense” ( The New York Times Book Review), offering a poignant new perspective on the most infamous day in American history.

“…changing it could potentially destroy the entire fabric of time and civilization” Captivates you, tricks you, laughs at you, then spits you out when you’re wanting more. So how does the book compare to the film? Well, coming in at only 9 pages, All You Zombies is surprisingly quite dense and does exactly what a short story should do. Predestination brings stunning colour to an intricate fable of misdirection It’s actually over 50 years old, making it’s debut in a short story by Robert A. But of course, the plot for this film isn’t anywhere near original. Sci-Fi fans are always clawing for new discourse in time travel (see Edge Of Tomorrow). The feeling of this movie is pure originality. “Captivates you, tricks you, laughs at you, then spits you out when you’re wanting more.” And that’s exactly what you should do too. I came into this movie knowing nothing about it. it even does coming of age drama better than teen flick The Fault In Our Stars. it does action better than recent blockbuster Transformers 4. It does time travel better than 2013’s Looper. It tackles multiple genres, putting many recent films of said genres to shame. Receiving only a limited release, Predestination deserves so much more. But heed this warning, do not let it escape your train of thought. So you can be excused for having not heard of it. Predestination may be one of the most subdued releases of 2014.
